Katie Wooten is an attorney with Hartzog Law Group. Katie grew up in Holly Springs, North
Carolina, and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in political
science. During her time at UNC, Katie interned at the North Carolina General Assembly,
working for the chair of the Senate Education committee and gaining valuable insight into
education policy and state government.

After her undergraduate education, Katie attended Wake Forest University School of Law for
her Juris Doctorate degree. While at Wake Forest, Katie served as a Notes and Comments
Editor for the Wake Forest Journal of Law and Policy. She also served on the board of Women
in Law and organized the annual Girl Scout Mock Trial program. As a member of the
Veterans’ Law Clinic, Katie assisted former service members in their applications to the Board
for Correction of Military Records.

Prior to attending law school, Katie worked as a courier for Hartzog Law Group, developing
an interest in the firms’ practice areas. She further expanded her knowledge of these areas
through her law school coursework and her internship with the City of Charlotte, gaining
valuable experience with issues affecting public entities, employers, and educational
institutions.

Outside of the practice of law, Katie enjoys baking, reading, playing tennis, and spending time
with her cats, Milo and Lucy.
