Amy Bernhard is an associate attorney with Hartzog Law Group. Born in the shadow of Beaver Stadium in State College, Pennsylvania, Amy grew up in State College and Blacksburg, Virginia, before moving to Evansville, Indiana, where she graduated from Evansville Day School. A high school internship at a local law firm introduced her to the legal profession. Her family relocated to Raleigh in 2019, and Amy now proudly calls the city home.

Amy graduated with highest distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2022, double majoring in political science and religious studies. At UNC, she co-founded the Religious Studies Club to bring together students and faculty with shared interests.

After a year tutoring children and caring for dogs at a veterinary office, Amy attended Campbell University School of Law, where she served as an Associate Editor and later Compliance Editor of the Campbell Law Review. She graduated magna cum laude in 2026, earning a Book Award in Constitutional Law II and Best Brief honors in the Old Kivett Moot Court Competition.

Amy also completed externships with Campbell University’s Office of the General Counsel and the Federal Public Defender for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Drawn to civil litigation, she enjoys legal research, writing, and tackling complex legal questions.

Outside the office, Amy enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family, especially her nephew, Jack, and her cat, Rosie. A devoted Carolina Hurricanes fan, she’s happiest at the Lenovo Center, cheering on the Canes and dreaming of another Stanley Cup parade.
