Bio Cases Community Involvement Accomplishments

Dan Hartzog, born and raised in Raleigh, completed his education in Chapel Hill where he attended college and law school. He has practiced law as a civil defense attorney for more than 50 years. He has tried over a hundred jury trials. Dan has appeared in many highly publicized cases in both federal and state trial and appellate courts. In addition to actively practicing law, he served as Managing Partner of Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog from 1992 to 2015.

Through the years, Dan gained his litigation skills by handling a broad range of civil litigation cases, including employment law, police liability, education law, and commercial litigation.

Dan has been included for many years in the Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and North Carolina Legal Elite listings. He holds the rank of Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates. In 2013, Dan was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers, which due to its admission standards, is generally accepted as a premier honor for litigators. In 2019 Dan was inducted into the North Carolina Bar Association Legal Practice Hall of Fame.
